- Vacuum front and back
at medium power. - If the rug is small, you can submerge it in a bathtub with warm water
and some liquid soap. - Let it soak for 30 minutes and remove it.
If the carpet is stained, rub it with a soft brush. - Wring the towel out gently and hang it outside to dry.
This will help it dry faster. Avoid direct sun exposure. - When the carpet is dry, give it one last go over with the vacuum cleaner

Let it rest and go to the drying.

Wool rugs are extremely delicate, so we must avoid all kinds of liquids and clean them dry:
- Start by shaking the rug to remove any residue. I covered the surface with baking soda and let it act for at least 1 hour.
- After the rest time, remove the baking soda with a vacuum cleaner at medium power. In case you don’t have power changes, use the larger size nozzle so as not to ruin the fabrics.
- If you are concerned about vacuuming, you can remove the baking soda with a soft brush. Then hang the rug vertically for half an hour.
How to clean cotton rugs
Cotton rugs can be cleaned using white vinegar. How?
- I shook out the carpet and vacuumed at medium power, always in a direction from the center of the carpet outwards.
- I diluted ⅙ of white vinegar in ⅚ of water. Mix both ingredients and pour the solution into the bottle.

To keep a short-pile rug clean, you can make a small solution of ammonia and water. Ammonia is a widely used product for household and commercial cleaning. Of course: never mix it with other cleaning products, and wear gloves, mask and glasses to protect yourself.
- For maximum protection of the fabrics, vacuum the rug’s front and back at medium power.
- Dilute one part of ammonia for two of warm water and pour the mixture into the bottle.

How to wash a bath mat
If you don’t want to wash your rubber mat by hand, you can let your washing machine do the heavy lifting. Learn how to wash a bathroom mat:
- Put the rug in a washing machine with some soft clothes to help scrub the stains by touch. We recommend using Skip Diluting Liquid Soap or Ala Diluting Liquid Soap .
- Program a delicate wash cycle with hot water.
- Then hang the rug up and let it dry on its own.
Another option is to use the bathtub:
- Peel back the rubber mat from the tub floor. Support it in the bathtub, without adhering it to the surface.
- Fill the bathtub with warm water.
- Protect yourself with rubber gloves and pour two cups of bleach into the water.
- Use a bristle brush to scrub the carpet.
- Once you’ve finished cleaning the rug on both sides, let the water drain out, then give the tub and rug a good rinse.
If the rug is cloth, it can usually be washed in the washing machine with other clothes. Still, read the rug’s label in case it requires special washing instructions.
- Wash it with hot water to eliminate fungi and bacteria, and let it dry.
- To get out tough stains, use a stain remover. Apply it to the affected surface, let the product work for five minutes, wash the carpet and that’s it! You should test the product first on an inconspicuous surface in order to prevent adverse reactions.
